No air conditioning, no smoke alarms. No shower, there was a bath with a hand held shower. It has a Michelin Star Restaurant. We were told we could eat at either 7.15 or 8.15. We chose 8.15. We came downstairs at 7.30 to have a drink in the bar and were accosted by receptionist/waitress/bar person and told our time for the restaurant was 8.15. We said we would like to have a drink. We had to wait 20 minutes before she came back to us get us a drink and to give us the menus. I ordered a Kir (costing€6) and it was luke warm. The white wine had not even been chilled. The menus were grubby. There was a very poor choice on menu. We both ordered carpaccio of saumon, but were told there was only one. The only other was a piece of pastry with serrano type ham on top and a disgusting blob of cream which was supposed to contain parmesan. My husband had that. I had to ask for a napkin. We ordered a main course each of cabillaud with black olive tapenade. We have never seen smaller helping. The cabillaud was not even two inches long and 1/2 inch wide on top of the most disgusting ratatouille type stuff I have ever seen. The dessert of the day was something that they had bought and taken out of the freezer. We go to France every year, usually twice and we have never been disappointed. I am writing to Michelin and asking them did they raffle their awards this year. Oh there was 1 thing that they did that Michelin Star restaurants do,. They had a lovely little silver brush and shovel for cleaning the table, but there were not crumbs on ours. #

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights at Auberge Bretonne - we have a house in Charente and will certainly break our journey with a couple of nights stop over in the delightful town of Roche Bernard again. The price was also very acceptable Best wishes Mike Lynch

This charming hotel in a lovely small village offered excellent value for money. The rooms were beautifully appointed, spacious, and had large windows overlooking the garden. The staff provided top-notch service and the basic amenities were all in place, including rooms with a patio and a delightful breakfast served in a sunny room overlooking a small courtyard. The restaurant served fantastic food, although it was a tad expensive. Just like last year, this hotel truly exceeded our expectations.
No negative aspects, everything was perfect!

This is one of the loveliest hotels that we have ever stayed in. Every fine detail is attended to. We were looked after exceptionally well and nothing was too much trouble. The suite exceeded all expectations. It was beautifully decorated, immaculately clean and the bathroom was very well equipped. We didn't eat dinner in the hotel, but we did have breakfast. It was like dining at the Ritz! This hotel is tranquil and classy with a luxurious ambience to it.

The cost of breakfast. 15 Euros each is too expensive.
